The Fisher-Price Soothing Motions Bassinet is one of the most exciting new products out there for newborns. It’s sleek, stylish, hip, and well-equipped with a bundle of sweet features.
Today, we’re here to take you through some of those features and help you decide whether or not this product is right for your newborn.
It comes highly rated, reviewed, and recommended – but what’s the real scoop?
Take a peek at our detailed review for everything you need to know about this bassinet.
The Fisher-Price Soothing Motions Bassinet is a bassinet that helps your newborn baby drift off to sleep using calming, swaying motions, soothing projections and lights, 30 minutes of vibrations, music, and sounds, and a variety of textures to stimulate your child’s senses.
Here are a few of the special features, in greater detail, that are jam-packed into the Soothing Motions Bassinet:
Not only is the bassinet great for getting your child to sleep – but it also helps along the process of their development.
The swaying motions, textures, vibrations, lights, and more help to develop your newborn baby’s senses from a safe and secure setting. It can be very beneficial to have this sensory experience as a part of your baby’s nap and bedtime routine because it will help them come into their senses more and more as they age.
Most mothers who give this product a test run absolutely love it, whereas others develop a love/hate relationship with it because of its many colorful features.
Let’s begin with some of the positive things reviewers are saying:
First off, the music and nature sound come highly praised by mothers across the internet. Many parents are pleased by how engaged their baby has become by the different sights, sounds, and sensory experiences that the bassinet provides. Safety and security is also a big topic of conversation here – many parents feel that this is an incredibly safe product that they feel comfortable leaving their children in, unsupervised, for a short while. There are never any concerns about the structural integrity of the product, which is important.
That being said, there are a variety of mixed reviews that come in from parents who aren’t the biggest fans of some of the product’s features.
Some babies do not respond well to the bassinet’s rocking. Some may find it too jerky or jarring, whereas it is perfect for others. Other children have been reported to wake up as soon as the thirty minutes of vibrations end, which is a bit of a disappointment.
There are also a few complaints about lights not working that well (unless it is pitch black), storage shelves being a tad flimsy, and the locking systems not being firm enough.
Keep in mind, though, that this is a newborn’s product.
While it’s clear that this is a safe and well-made product, buyers have to be aware of the product’s possible shortcomings. All babies react differently to stimuli, and there’s no telling how your newborn may react to that kind of stimulation. This is, of course, something you’ll have to think through before making the purchase plunge.
When compared with other full mesh bassinets, the Fisher-Price product is cost-effective and reasonable. It gives you a good amount of bang for your buck. For pricing information, click on this link.
Unlike other bassinets, the Fisher-Price Soothing Motions Bassinet, unfortunately, does not come with wheels. This makes portability a tad difficult.
The product itself is on the heavy side. It has a metal base and no wheels, so don’t expect to be moving it around your house. The bassinet is also not made for travel in any way, shape, or form.
The Soothing Motions Bassinet interface is a little difficult to learn how to use at first – but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy as pie.
The bassinet is 28.3” high. This means that it’s small enough to keep right beside your bed. Thanks to the full mesh, you’ll be able to keep a good eye on your baby at all times.
That being said, the height of the actual product is a tad lower than what is normal for bassinets. Depending on how you wish to use the product, and where you wish to place it, this might be a tad pesky.
Short answer: super breathable.
This is one of the most highly-praised areas of review for the product. The mesh fabric and small fabric panels make the bassinet a very breathable, light product.
That’s a good question. The bassinet is JPMA certified, although Fisher-Price has yet to release all of its ingredients. This is not unusual for the company, but it does raise some concerns. It’s unclear whether or not the product is flame-redundant; it’s also unclear what chemicals may or may not be used in the bassinet.
Although this product comes very highly recommended, rated, and reviewed, there are a few things to look out for when making a purchase. The product’s many moving parts may be overstimulating for some children (and parents!), but the bassinet provides a fun atmosphere for children to develop their senses and have sweeter, sounder sleeps.
